Ancestors with Military Service
I started this page about 10 years ago, but got distracted before I finished it. Consider it a work in progress.
French and Indian War, 1761
From the roster of Captain Wm. Edmonds Company of Virginia Troops:
- Herriman Hitt (I have no clue who this is)
- John Hitt (1715-1782), the eldest son of
Peter Hitt and
Elizabeth Otterback, born 1715. Both John and his son, John, Jr. were members of the Fauquier County (VA)
militia as stated in French and Indian War Records (Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, Vol. 7, pp. 305-6).
- John Hitt, Jur., the son of John Hitt above
- Jno. Hitt, son of Joseph
- Joseph Hitt
